Meet the Hepatology team
The liver team at SUHT sits within the larger hepatopancreatic biliary group, which comprises of a team of surgeons, radiologists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, oncologists and pathologists. Within this large multi disciplinary team there are close working relationships, which enables us to provide a seamless package of care to patients with a wide variety of conditions.
We have a dedicated team of six specialist hepatology nurses whose role is to manage a variety of hepatology conditions including viral hepatitis, haemochromatosis and end stage liver disease. They provide follow up care for transplant patients, hepatocellular carcinoma patients and manage patients in relation to alcohol addiction. Our nurses work within the multi disciplinary team and have an orthotonos (this does not seem to be a real word – do you mean authoritative?) role in their specialised areas. There are also three specialist HPB (Hepato Pancreato Biliary) clinical nurses, specialising in cancer.
