Urological surgery

The urology service consists of six consultants, supported by one associate specialist, two specialist registrars, three urology nurse specialists and two urology nurse practitioners.

The service admits around 1,200 urological emergencies every year. Services are provided by UHS urologists at the Southampton NHS Treatment Centre (RSH), Lymington Hospital, Romsey Hospital and Hythe Hospital.

Our specialist services include: urological cancer, urinary tract stone disease, reconstructive urology and complex adult urinary incontinence surgery for patients across the central south coast area including Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Dorset and the Falkland Islands.

Our urological cancer service provides care for patients with complex renal cancer (including invasion of the vena cava, percutaneous ablative therapies), testicular cancer (including retroperitoneal lymph node dissection) and other complex cancers (in collaboration with UHS gynaecological, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal and neurosurgical teams).
