Looking after your hearing aids
Once you turn 16, you will need to transfer from our children's hearing aid service to an adult service.
Please see this page| to see which adult service you can be seen by.
Once you leave the children's service, you become responsible for your own hearing aid(s) and appointments.
Things to remember
-
The NHS provides all NHS hearing aid repairs and replacements.
-
If your hearing aid is not working or you are unhappy with it, contact the Audiology Department.
-
Your earmould needs to be retubed every 3-4 months and your earmould should be replaced every 2-3 years.
-
You can get batteries for your hearing aid(s) from some local health centres and Audiology clinics.
-
If you have had the same hearing aid for a long time, or you feel your hearing has changed, you may want a full review. As an adult, you will need to see your GP to request a referral for a re-assessment.
-
If you lose or damage your hearing aid, you may be charged.
Always bring your brown record book when attending for repairs, for an appointment, or to collect batteries and tubing.
