Adult orthoptic appointments

If this is your first visit to the orthoptic department then you must report to orthoptic reception on B-level in the eye unit outpatients.

You should bring details of any glasses you may already have and any medication you are taking.

You will be seen by an orthoptist first and then by a doctor who will give you your diagnosis and explain any treatment you require.

You may or may not be given eye drops to dilate your pupils. These can blur your vision for a few hours so DO NOT drive yourself to hospital as you will not be able to drive home.

Please allow up to an hour and a half for this first visit. Any follow-up visits should take less time.
