Our nurse specialists provide information, advice and support for patients and their families on any aspect of their condition.


Maz Bettey

Maz has eight years experience in gastroenterology nursing, including managing the day case infusion unit and endoscopy department. She currently manages patients with inflammatory bowel disease receiving biological therapy.


Sam George

Sam qualified as a nurse in 1999 and has experience in gastroenterology medicine, surgery and high dependency. Her previous role was gastrointestinal research sister responsible for co-coordinating and developing the gastrointestinal research portfolio.


Vicki Havercroft, independent nurse prescriber  

Vicki has 10 years experience working in gastrointestinal medicine. She has been a senior sister since 2007 and she is currently completing her masters degree.


Shirley James, independent nurse prescriber  

Shirley has been specialising in gastrointestinal medicine since 2004 and has a masters degree in clinical research. She cares for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and benign disorders of the upper gastric tract, including Barrett's oesophagus and coeliac disease. She is also a nurse endoscopist and carries out gastroscopy procedures.


Sam Sheath  

Sam has been the gastroenterology clinical nurse specialist team secretary since 2006. She is also the gastroenterology administrator for the virtual clinic and adult and paediatric IBD multi-disciplinary team coordinator.
