How can I be referred to a member of the clinical health psychology team?

We can see you if you're currently under the care of a consultant in one of the following services at Southampton General Hospital:

  • adult cystic fibrosis
  • Wessex facial nerve centre
  • difficult asthma
  • teenage and young adult cancer
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • lymphoma
  • sarcoma
  • malignant haematology
  • congenital cardiac services
  • intensive care services
  • the hazel centre (day care service), Countess Mountbatten House.

Some of these services are regional and offer psychological support to people from a wide area. We also offer a psychology service to patients within the respiratory service at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. If you're within one of these services and would like to meet with a psychologist, then please talk to your medical team.

Unfortunately, we're not funded to work with patients from all of the different specialties within the hospital. If you're currently experiencing any difficulties and are not under the care of one of the teams listed above, please contact your GP who can direct you to an appropriate psychological therapist within the community.
