Laser safety trainingCourse details

Taught by an accredited laser protection advisor, both courses cover all aspects of the 'core of knowledge' defined in the MHRA guidance on the safe use of lasers, intense light source systems and LEDs in medical, surgical, dental and aesthetic practices. They are approved by the British Medical Laser Association and meet the requirements of those required to register with the Care Quality Commission.

The courses are aimed at doctors, nurses, ODPs and beauticians but will also be of interest to medical physicists, physiotherapists, health and safety officers and others working with medical or cosmetic lasers and IPL systems.

We are also able to offer bespoke on-site core of knowledge courses, which may be more cost effective if several staff require training. These typically last three hours and can be tailored to your particular application. We can also offer a shorter refresher laser/IPL safety course for those who have previously undertaken a core of knowledge course.

Individual tuition at Southampton General Hospital is also possible for those who cannot attend a course but require core of knowledge training.
