Meet the team

Mr Graeme Taylor

Graeme Taylor is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, carrying out ankle surgery, foot surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. His special clinical interests include ankle replacement and foot corrective surgery.

He qualified in 1988 with a primary sub specialty interest in paediatric orthopaedics. Part of this specialty included complex foot deformity and from this grew an interest in adult foot surgery and advanced techniques in forefoot corrective surgery and ankle replacement.

His particular research interest lies in improving outcomes and in particular attempting to shorten rehabilitation time.

Mr Gavin Bowyer

Gavin Bowyer is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in foot and ankle surgery.

He went up to Cambridge University in 1979, to read Medical Sciences. He went on to Oxford University in 1982, to complete his clinical training. He joined the Army and underwent further surgical training in London and Southampton, and spent a busy year in the USA as a Fellow in the Shock Trauma Centre in Baltimore. He enjoyed a number of exciting postings on operational military tours of duty in the Balkans and elsewhere. He developed a major interest in the management of foot and ankle problems, especially after injury and in the active sports-person. Later NHS experience and training developed this further, with care of the whole range of foot and ankle conditions.

Throughout his consultant career, from 1997 onwards, Mr Bowyer has run a foot and ankle practice that closely involves colleagues in physiotherapy and podiatry, providing a service for those with foot and ankle problems related to sports and training, arthritis or idiopathic conditions such as foot and toe deformities.

Mr Bowyer is a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association, and a member of several societies including the British Trauma Society, British Limb Reconstruction Society, and British Orthopaedic Foot Surgery Society. He has presented papers on foot and ankle surgery in UK, as well as at the European Foot and Ankle Society and as an invited speaker in Australia and the United States.
