What happens when I come in?

We are a tertiary (specialist) hospital, which means patients are often referred to us by consultants from other hospitals covering a wide area including Jersey and the Isle of Wight, as well as from GPs.

Patients usually first meet us through our outpatients clinic based at the Royal South Hants, although you may be referred from another clinic.

Day cases can be treated at Lymington Hospital or in Southampton but complex procedures and those requiring an overnight stay are always carried out at Southampton University Hospital,

The hand therapists are based at the outpatients clinics at the Royal South Hants hospital, as well as at Southampton General's therapy department and wards.

Your consultant or therapist will provide you with appointment times, surgery dates and locations, as well as information on how to prepare for your treatment and what to do afterwards
