Mr Campbell Hand|

Mr Campbell Hand is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder surgery and conditions such as frozen shoulder and rotator cuff disease.

He trained at St Thomas' Hospital Medical School in London before moving through Cambridge, Bristol and Oxford for his postgraduate training.

While training in Oxford he completed further Specialist Fellowship training and research in Oxford before starting as a Consultant in Southampton in 2006.

He is a member of the British Elbow & Shoulder Society| and has published in the field of frozen shoulder, rotator cuff disease and arthroscopic skills. Mr Campbell Hand is able to offer a specialist Shoulder Surgery service for all adult conditions of the shoulder including rotator cuff disease, frozen shoulder, instability arthritis and fracture and specialises in both arthroscopic and open surgical techniques.

Mr Andrew Cole|

Mr Andrew Cole BSc (Hons) Physiology and Pathology, MB.BS, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Tr and Orth) is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust and is a specialist shoulder surgeon. He is an expert in open shoulder surgery and the newer techniques of arthroscopic surgery.  

Andrew Cole studied medicine at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School ( now part of Imperial College) at the University of London. He qualified with a BSc (Hons) in 1987 and as a Doctor in 1990. After a period in London including Demonstrating anatomy at Queen Mary and Westfield College, Mr Cole underwent his basic surgical training in Bristol and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng) in 1994.

Mr. Cole continued his orthopaedic training in Oxford, gaining experience at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, an internationally acclaimed Institution for specialist orthopaedic surgery and also gained extensive trauma experience at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. During his training Mr. Cole developed an interest in shoulder and trauma surgery. He undertook specialist fellowships in shoulder surgery in Oxford and trauma surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Cole took up his Consultant post at Southampton in 2001 as a specialist shoulder surgeon and has developed and expanded the service since then.

He was awarded the prestigious European travelling fellowship from the British Elbow and Shoulder Society| in 2001.

Mr Cole has maintained a significant interest in the education and training of future doctors. He is Deputy Programme Director of the Regional Orthopaedic Training Programme for Wessex and has been elected Regional Specialty Advisor in Orthopaedic Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng)|. He is on the teaching faculty for the AO foundation and is on the UK education committee for the OTC (Osteosynthesis and Trauma Care Foundation)|. Mr Cole is an active participant as faculty member of a number of national and international courses on all aspects of shoulder surgery. He has been invited to examine for the FRCS (tr and Orth) exam for the Royal College Of Surgeons.
