Paediatric Radiology
Paediatric Radiology is one of six sections in the Radiology Directorate. We are a very busy clinical service providing radiological expertise with a wide range of experience in all aspects of Paediatric imaging.
There are three consultant Paediatric Radiologists. Specialist Registrars in Radiology rotate through the department at different stages of their training. The dedicated radiographic team comprises of a Superintendent who is also the Specialist Manager, two Paediatric Specialist Radiographers, 8 Paediatric Radiographers and a Radiographic helper. The Admin & Clerical team consists of a Team Leader, two secretaries and three clerical officers.
Paediatric Radiology is situated on C Level close to the main entrance and Children's Outpatients. The Paediatric Department is well equipped with state of the art imaging equipment including a digital fluoroscopy room and two general rooms, one of which has an ORBIX. Ultrasound is also provided in the department with a machine funded by public appeal. Paediatric CT and MRI scanning take place within the Cross Sectional Imaging Department.
We are unable to offer a walk-in service for GP patients. GP's or patients requiring an X-ray should phone the department on 023 8079 6078 for an appointment. We endeavour to arrange appointments within 24 hours for urgent cases.
The Department is open for routine work between 08.30 hrs and 17.00 hrs. The department is open for emergency work only outside of these core hours. The duty radiographer is contactable via the switchboard.
