X-Ray
With close to 300,000 patients each year, this is one of the largest radiology services in the country. It is based over three sites: Southampton General Hospital, Royal South Hants Hospital and the Princess Anne Hospital. There is also an outreach ultrasound service.
Departments
General X-Ray|, Southampton General Hospital - covers all general, orthopaedic and A & E work, fluoroscopy and angiographic/interventional radiology.
Royal South Hants Hospital - has four general rooms, two fluoroscopy rooms, one CT scanner, one mammography room, and two ultrasound rooms including Doppler facilities. This department provides an open access GP service, and is a specialist centre for symptomatic mammography. The department also takes all imaging, with the exception of MRI, for the Cancer Centre.
Cardiothoracic Radiology| - provides radiological expertise to the Wessex Cardiothoracic Centre and all other chest and heart referrals. This includes chest x-rays, CT and MRI scanning of the chest and heart, and catheter lab service and various angiographic and interventional procedures.
Children's X-Ray| - The children's x-ray provides imaging services for all children's wards, as well as children's, orthopaedic and cardiothoracic outpatients. It also offers a direct GP service by appointment, for children up to 14 years.

|Ultrasound is split between three hospital sites:

Cross-Sectional Imaging/Neuroradiology - has two computed tomography scanners, two magnetic resonance (MRI) scanners and a digital subtraction angiographic suite. A 24-hour cover service is operated.
