Adult PCD management service

Southampton General Hospital provides specialist follow-up care for adults with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). We look after patients from a large area, mostly from the south of England.

Clinics are run every six weeks, with additional appointments made as required. The number of appointments that you are offered will be tailored to your need. Clinics are usually held on Friday afternoons, but we can arrange alternatives to fit in with work commitments.

The adult management service is led by Dr Mary Carroll with support from the adult cystic fibrosis team.

During a clinic you will be seen by members of our team all of whom have expertise in PCD, including:

  • respiratory consultants
  • respiratory nurse specialists
  • respiratory physiotherapists.

We can also arrange for you to be seen by the following specialists if needed:

  • ear, nose and throat (ENT) consultants
  • fertility experts
  • social workers.

We also offer telephone advice and support.

We work closely with the children’s PCD service to ensure a straightforward transition to the adult service.

All of our patients are invited to participate in the active research programme into PCD.

Between clinic visits, the PCD team can be contacted on 023 8120 6801.
