The community respiratory nursing team coordinate the early assisted discharge service, home visits, support for patients on home NIV (non-invasive ventilation) and locality clinics.

The Respiratory Centre nursing team help to co-ordinate our admission avoidance service. This is a service which is used specifically for patients with a diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who have been referred by their GP or who are already known to the service and with their GP's approval have been given the telephone number to enable them to self refer. We can usually provide same day appointments. Our aim is to provide early assessment and treatment of COPD exacerbations and thus preventing the need for hospital admission.

Should you require hospital admission we are often able to facilitate you going home with our early assisted discharge scheme. This means that you spend less time in hospital and instead are visited at home by our team of community respiratory specialist nurses.

The asthma and allergy specialist nurse team coordinate asthma reviews, immunology clinics and allergy tests.|
