Sebastian Kit

Sebastian Kit's spine before surgeryThroughout his young life eight-year-old Sebastian Kit was unable to sit or lie down properly because of a large bulge in his vertebrae.

The spina bifida sufferer was finally able to sit up straight in his wheelchair after an operation by spinal surgeons at Southampton General Hospital.

In a groundbreaking 11-hour operation, a six inch section of his backbone was removed and the remaining ends screwed together to straighten Sebestian’s spine.

Polish-born dad Oktawiusz, 34, said: “The results of this op have been life saving for Sebestian and we are so grateful to the team at Southampton.”
