Getting here and parking
When planning your journey to Southampton General Hospital you may find the following information useful:
Walking or cycling to the hospital
If you live nearby and are fit and well, we encourage you to walk or cycle to our hospitals.
You can use My Journey Southampton to plan your journey.
We promote cycling - you can find cycle racks around the hospital grounds including covered racks opposite the main reception.
There is undercover motorcycle parking in the main visitor car park (orange). Additional motorcycle parking bays are by the South Academic Block and West Wing entrance.
To see information on road incidents and closures, traffic restrictions and roadworks which may affect your journey you can view an interactive Southampton roadworks map by Elgin.
Parking enforcement for inappropriate parking
Please be aware that enforcement notices are issued to vehicles not parked in appropriate spaces at the Southampton General and Princess Anne Hospitals.
The enforcement charge is the sum of £70 however this is reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days.
The enforcement is part of our ongoing strategy to improve parking and traffic flow - disruptions to this can compromise the experience of our patients as well as important access for emergency vehicles.
All surplus income generated from the enforcement is used to develop parking facilities and sustainable travel services.
