The SAFER approach to patient care
We know how important it is for our patients to know what care is being planned for them while they are in hospital and when they can expect to go home.
Ensuring that our patients are able to make progress through their treatment without any delays, is the aim of a campaign that was launched in September 2018.
The SAFER care bundle pulls together a number of nationally recommended approaches that aim to improve the experience of patients by improving the consistency with which care is planned, communicated and delivered.
We want our patients to feel empowered to be able to ask about their care plan. If you are in hospital, or are supporting a relative who is, please don’t hesitate to ask the team caring for you to clarify questions such as:
- What is the matter with me?
- What is going to happen today?
- What is needed to get me home?
- When am I going home?
By embedding the SAFER care bundle approach involving the whole UHS community, our aim at is to ensure that everything is being done to progress our patients through their treatment with us with fewer delays.
