Meet the research and development team, who help drive better health and healthcare by ensuring research studies are conducted safely, ethically and efficiently.

The department has several key areas, led by director Christine McGrath and her senior management group.

Christine McGrath, director of research and development

Christine directs the Trust's research and development support and activities, and develops our hospital-university partnership with our leading clinical academics, our CEO and the dean of Medicine, Professor Iain Cameron.

Prof Saul Faust, associate director for research and development

Saul supports R&D within the Trust through clinical engagement and insight, helping to develop research activity across clinical services and supporting the establishment of clinical academic leaders.


Ailsa Duckworth, head of research and development

Ailsa is responsible for the operational oversight and management of the R&D team and deputises for the acting assistant director of R&D and director of R&D.

Ailsa is currently on maternity leave.
