Childcare Facilities for Staff

Welcome to the Taplins Childcare Department!

Run by Southampton University Hospitals, Taplins childcare department provides a high standard of childcare to children aged 3 months to 14 years of age.

Our facilities include:

Day nurseries: Our nurseries provide regular childcare to children aged 3 months to school age. Open from 7am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday all year round, except bank holidays. The nurseries are based on the Southampton General Hospital Site and Western Community Hospital site.

Crèche: Based within the nursery on the Western Community Hospital site our crèche provides adhoc childcare to children aged 3 months to 14 years.  Flexible childcare is provided on an hourly basis and has the ability to open between 7am and 9.30pm.  There is no need to be a regular user of Taplins Childcare to access this service.

Holiday playscheme: Our playscheme runs during all school holiday for children who are 4 years and in full time education, up to the age of 14 years. Open Monday to Friday, except bank holidays from 8am to 6pm, the playscheme is based at Trust Taplins Creche at the Western Community Hospital. There is no need to access the playscheme during every school holiday, only when you need it.

Childcare support service: Support and advice available to all NHS employees and managers on any childcare related issue. 

Savings on childcare: Access to Fideliti childcare vouchers and our "fee direct" scheme, enabling parents to make savings on childcare.

All our staff are carefully selected and are all suitably qualified. All OFSTED regulations are strictly adhered to in each of our provisions.

Taplins childcare is accessible to local NHS employees. In addition our crèche and nursery on the Western Community Hospital site are also open to the local community.
