Employee of the Year Award

This award was selected from the year’s Employee of the Month winners and is sponsored by DAC Beachcroft.

Winner - Peter Rhodes, principal pharmacist

Peter is the principle pharmacist for technical services and leads his team by example focusing on the needs of the patient and attention to detail. During the summer of 2011 a major upgrade of the asceptic labs led to significant disruption to the working area during that time. To ensure the smooth running of this project Peter ensured he had a good understanding of all aspects of the project and the roles of the contractors and others so that he could anticipate potential issues early and proactively propose solutions. He also personally ensured the areas was sufficiently clean for aseptic drug preparation to commence after finding the air particle count was beyond acceptable levels the evening before the unit was due to reopen.

Runner-up - Imogen Fecher, colorectal advanced nurse practitioner

Imogen has led on the enhanced recovery project for colorectal surgery.  She has worked hard to ensure a team approach to the programme, involving all multidisciplinary teams that the patient may come into contact, which in turn has resulted in its success.  The patient receives a high level of support from the service both whilst an in-patient and on discharge.  This approach has led to much positive feedback from patients who feel well supported throughout their care pathway. She is now working with the upper gastro-intestinal teams to roll out her innovative approach to enhanced recovery.
