Senior Medicines Information Pharmacist
As well as working in a regional medicines information centre, I provide daily ward cover. I'm also part of the on-call pharmacist rota.
I started my career at SUHT by doing a summer vacation placement which I enjoyed so much that I went on to spend my pre-registration year here. Once qualified I spent eight months on the general rotation programme gaining experience in dispensary, oncology and medicines information. I then decided to specialise in Medicines Information, which is where I'm now working. The role includes answering enquiries from an abundance of callers (including NHS Direct), training, research and writing for national publications such as the IV Guide, Medicines Q&As and Thinking Ahead
I'm currently finishing a Diploma in general pharmacy practice and hope to go on to do further qualifications like Train the trainer.
