Suzannah Hunt
Rotational Pharmacist
My role
As a newly-qualified rotational pharmacist, I’m gaining experience in the different environments that a pharmacist can work in. Currently I’m working as part of our oncology team and also have allocated time to cover a ward. Each rotation lasts three months and is giving me a sound grounding to base my future career as a hospital pharmacist. I have also had the opportunity to start the clinical certificate with the aim of completing the diploma in 2010. Senior pharmacists are really supportive and have been a great help in enabling me to develop and learn quickly.
Achievements
I completed my pre-registration year in a community pharmacy in Bristol and moved to Southampton to work as a hospital pharmacist. While I enjoyed community pharmacy I felt that there were other opportunities to work in different environments within hospital. Since relocating I’ve enjoyed seeing another side of pharmacy and being part of a dynamic and proactive team – all the while being encouraged and supported to develop and learn new skills to enable me to be a better pharmacist in the future.
Future aspirations
Having moved from community pharmacy I would like to complete the rota and then look to specialise.
