Cardiac rhythm nurse specialist
“I am the cardiac rhythm nurse specialist and my role incorporates caring for paediatric, adult congenital and adults with arrhythmias.
Aspects of my role include preassessment of patients pre procedure, running a telephone help line, ordering investigations, counselling and education of patients pre and post procedure, facilitating ICD support group, drug challenges for patients with inherited arrhythmia, liaising with cardiogenetic service, formulating electrophysiology policies and guidelines. I am currently studying for my PhD, exploring aspects pertaining to remote disease management for patients with implantable defibrillators.
In 2004, I was invited, as an expert member to contribute to the development of the NSF Chapter 8 Arrhythmia and Sudden Cardiac Death which was published in 2005.“
