UHS offers a range of training fellowships offering opportunities suited to those following a more unconventional training pathway. They are particularly suitable for doctors who have trained overseas and are looking for a safe and supportive environment in a centre of excellence in which to orientate themselves into the NHS way of working.

For candidates with up to two years' postgraduate experience
The foundation fellowship is aimed at recent medical graduates and is made up of four six-month placements. If you have recently qualified overseas and are eligible for GMC registration, our two-year foundation fellowship is likely to suit you best. We find that being at UHS for two years offers you the best chance to feel confident that your training and performance is at the level the UK foundation programme expects. Our aim is to get to know and support you so that you can achieve F2 sign-off in order for you to go on to apply for UK training posts. We have an excellent success rate in achieving this.
We currently offer posts in:
- trauma and orthopaedics
- medicine for older people
- specialist medicine (such as gastrointestinal or respiratory)
- surgery (such as general and hepatobiliary)
- cancer care (such as medical and clinical oncology and haematology)
- emergency medicine.
All trainees will have a supervisor for each placement and specialty teaching on the wards.

We offer paediatric, medical and surgical core fellowships consisting of four six-month placements in a variety of specialised areas. All core fellowship trainees will have access to an online portfolio and will have supervision within each post.

Please contact us to find out which posts are available.
We have post CCT fellowships in many areas where you can sub-specialise prior to applying for a substantive consultant post. Please contact us for more information.
