The following e-Learning packages are made up of a set of real-life scenarios that you will be able to relate to your own tasks in your role in the Trust. 

BEFORE attempting any of the core e-CAMIS e-Learning packages you are expected to:

  • Have successfully completed the Trust's Basic IT Skills Assessment and completed any follow-on training where required
  • Have gone through the e-CAMIS Essentials Getting Started materials, covering how to Log In, Log Out, Introduction to e-CAMIS Screens & Controls and How to Use to e-CAMIS e-Learning guide.  

AFTER completing your training (either e-learning or classroom), you may re-do the e-learning modules at any time.  We will also shortly be providing SUHT staff with access to bite-sized resources via the IDEAL website to refresh your memory on specific processes in e-CAMIS to support your in your role.

Subsequent e-Learning packages will work on the assumption that you are familiar with the e-CAMIS screen layout, how to Log In and Log Out, and familiar with the e-Learning playback controller.  If you are new to e-CAMIS you are strongly advised to access the following resources before going any further.

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate the correct search processes and aspects involved in checking patient details on the central patient master index record. 

Upon successful completion you will understand how to search for a patient by surname, or date-of-birth, and access and check patient details including demographic details and a patients location in the hospital.

Intended Audience: All Staff

This module must be completed by ALL staff in order to be granted initial access to e-CAMIS, and before proceeding to further modules of training.

Open e-CAMIS Patient Master Index (Part 1) e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to change patient details on the central record including addresses, GP details and critical patient information.  You will also go through how to create a new patient record.

Open e-CAMIS Patient Master Index (Part 2) e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to create, locate, request and receive clinical records, as well as transfer a record to others in the hospital or Health Records Centre.  You will also go through how to merge temporary records with main ones.

Open e-CAMIS Clinical Record Tracking e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to admit elective or emergency patients, allocate patients to bays, and amend and cancel admissions.

Open e-CAMIS Admissions e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to discharge elective or emergency patients, complete a planned discharge and amend or cancel discharges.

Open e-CAMIS Discharges e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to transfer patients, receive transfers, cancel transfers, change a patients consultant and speciality and administer patient ward leave.

Open e-CAMIS Transfers e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to administer patient waiting lists, as well as Book Theatre sessions, make offers and view a patients waiting list history

Open e-CAMIS Waiting List e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to admit, transfer and discharge patients. This module offers only the basic functionality in these areas and is for Nursing/Medical Staff who are required to undertake Real-time ADT Processes.

Open e-CAMIS Real Time ADT e-Learning

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to view a real time theatre status and update patients as they progress through theatres soon.

Open e-CAMIS Theatres (Basics) e-Learning

Theatres (Advanced)

The purpose of this package is to demonstrate how to re-order theatre sessions, re-book a booked theatre slot, book an emergency procedure and swap theatres sessions.
