- Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, 1991

Dr Donovan joined the Trust in 2011 as the director of medical education, also undertaking clinical work as a consultant in general paediatrics on the paediatric assessment unit.
Dr Donovan's main role at the Trust as director of medical education is a managerial one, leading all aspects of medical education from medical student to consultant experience. Much of this work relates to Health Education England, the trainees in the Wessex region and ensuring the high standard of the training programmes we deliver here at the Trust. Many doctors in training are employed in Trust posts and meeting their training needs is crucial. The University of Southampton is also a key partner, with the majority of the clinical placements for medical students provided here at the Trust.
A major part of Dr Donovan's director of medical education role is working with doctors in difficulty. This involves working closely with the medical director and human resources as well as the Deanery.
Dr Donovan is also the case investigator for doctors' conduct and performance at the Trust and the case manager for the Wessex Deanery professional support unit. She is a member of the design team and faculty for 'Stop it' - a workshop to help prevent bullying and undermining behaviours as well as the design and faculty lead for 'Keep calm', a workshop to help junior doctors manage stress and build resilience.
Dr Donovan is a registered neonatologist and has practiced as a consultant for twelve years. She is now practicing in a general paediatric assessment unit, with a main clinical interest in neonatal and infant medicine, supporting new parents with kindness, understanding, and consistent and evidence based information.
- Head of school paediatrics, Wessex Deanery, 2008 to 2012
