UHS members' evening: behind the scenes of PICU and 'My Baby's Life: Who Decides?'

PICU team

Tuesday, 17 April 2018 from 6 to 8pm
Heartbeat Education Centre lecture theatre, F level, north wing, Southampton General Hospital

For the second members’ evening of 2018, we are delighted to be able to offer you a behind the scenes look at the recently aired Channel 4 documentary 'My Baby's Life: Who Decides?', which featured patients, staff and families from the paediatric intensive care unit at Southampton Children’s Hospital. The two-part documentary explored the issues discussed by the clinical ethics committee and was aired in March.

The committee at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust was established in 2001 and deals with any ethical issues arising in clinical practice when health practitioners, patients or patients' families cannot reach agreement on important healthcare matters.

Speakers at the event in April include the team from Love Productions who filmed the documentary and Iain Macintosh, a consultant in PICU. They will share not only information on PICU itself, but their experiences of filming in such close quarters, often during difficult circumstances.

If you wish to book a place at this event, please email the membership team or call 023 8120 5957. You are welcome to bring friends, colleagues or family who would be interested in the talks, and there will be forms available on the evening if they would like to join. A number of the Trust governors will also be in attendance should you wish to speak with them during the tea/coffee break.

We look forward to seeing you there!
