Laura Presland, senior respiratory research sister
Laura's current responsibilities involve overseeing a respiratory team encompassing 14 members of staff covering 6 respiratory disease specialities, always ensuring that all aspects of the research delivered encompassed the Trusts values.
Laura is responsible for the day-to-day activities within the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR BRC). She represents the team at regular meetings, including the clinical studies forum with other members of the Multi disciplinary team to ensure that we continue to be able to deliver our studies. Her role has become more focused now on the management of the team with the exciting development of the NIHR BRC and the changes that will bring.
Since qualifying in 1999, Laura has worked in a variety of areas such as respiratory wards, respiratory medical high dependency unit and elderly care wards. As her career has been focused on respiratory medicine this lead her to complete a respiratory nursing degree in 2008.
Laura worked within the NIHR Southampton Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit since 2011 in senior nursing roles and has gained experience in being the lead nurse and successfully delivering a multitude of different study types, such as observational, drug studies and more recently the setting up of Phase 1 respiratory studies.
