Training and education
Mr Chakraborty completed his neurosurgical training in London.
- Two post-CCT (certificate of completion of training) fellowships in paediatric neurosurgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada
Mr Chakraborty joined the neurosurgical department at Southampton General Hospital in January 2013. Prior to this, he worked as a locum consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for two and a half years.
Mr Chakraborty is currently the lead for paediatric neurosurgery at the hospital, and has a specific interest in all aspects of paediatric neurosurgery. In addition, he has interests in pituitary surgery, complex hydrocephalus including normal pressure hydrocephalus, Chiari 1 malformations and epilepsy surgery.
Mr Chakraborty is the clinical lead for paediatric neurosurgery in the south of England.
Mr Chakraborty is very active in research, having completed a PhD at the University of London, and has supervised two PhD students. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals, presented at numerous international meetings and has authored two book chapters.
