NHS Blood and Transplant is calling for donors in Southampton to give blood throughout the summer to help those who need it most.
Regular blood donations are vital at this time of year as stocks can become more vulnerable as people enjoy their summer plans. Distracted with holidays, sporting events and warm weather, blood stocks can fall and donation appointments can be forgotten about.
NHS Blood and Transplant is asking the people of Southampton to make an appointment and give blood at Southampton Donor Centre over the next few weeks. The blood you donate is used to treat critically ill patients and each donation you make can save the lives of up to three people.
Jon Latham, assistant director of donor relationship services has called for local support, saying: “We really need our loyal donors in Southampton over the summer because while stocks can dip, hospital patients need blood all year round.”
“If you can make and keep an appointment, you will be doing an incredibly important thing – helping us to save and improve lives.”
Make an appointment at Southampton Donor Centre by calling the Donor Line on 0300 123 2323, by visiting www.blood.co.uk or via the NHSGiveBlood app.
You can find the Southampton Donor Centre at:

If you make an appointment but need to cancel or change it, please remember to call and reschedule your donation time. This allows NHSBT to reallocate the cancelled slot to someone else.
