Due to diversions from the planned closure of the M27 between junctions three and four this weekend, we are expecting significantly more traffic on local roads around our hospital sites in Southampton and the wider area.
The closure is to allow for the installation of a new bridge across the motorway at Romsey Road and will be in effect from 10pm on Friday, 28 June to 5am on Monday 1, July. However, the work may be completed earlier so drivers are being asked to keep in touch with local travel updates.
As a result of the closure, diversions will be in place and a significant increase in traffic is expected on local roads in and around Southampton. For full details of diversions that will be in place, visit the Highways England project pages here.
Therefore those who have appointments or who are visiting patients are being advised to allow more time for their journeys or consider other methods of transport.
The public is also being asked to ensure they have adequate supplies of their usual medication before the weekend and to consider taking advice from local pharmacies and other out of hours services like NHS 111 phone and online service where appropriate to avoid potentially unecessary trips.
For more information about the 111 service, visit the website here. For a list of pharmacy opening hours and contact details around Southampton, visit the Southampton CCG website here or use the ‘find a pharmacy’ tool on the NHS website here.
