Our service is a long-established specialist unit for the diagnosis and treatment of benign breast disorders and breast cancer. Our team of specialists includes breast surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists and breast care nurses.
A wide range of breast surgery is performed here, including oncological (cancer) surgery and reconstructive surgery. We also have close links with our plastic surgery colleagues and hold joint clinics for specialist reconstructive advice, following treatment for breast cancer.
Our team provides a full range of breast imaging investigations, along with the breast screening service. We also provide an intra-operative sentinel lymph node analysis service. The Wessex clinical genetics service is based at the Princess Anne Hospital, and assesses patients at high risk of developing breast cancer. We also provide a full breast care nurse specialist service.
We're based at the Princess Anne Hospital. If you're an outpatient, you will generally be seen and assessed in the outpatient suite and breast imaging unit on E level. We also have a mobile breast screening unit.
Most operations take place at the Princess Anne Hospital, although patients with complex medical problems sometimes have surgery across the road at Southampton General Hospital.
Inpatients are cared for on the Bramshaw short stay ward on H level (Princess Anne Hospital), and occasionally on wards at Southampton General Hospital.
