Parking charges

There are special concessions available for some of our patients receiving certain treatments. Further information regarding these can be obtained directly from the department providing your care or the Travelwise department.

If you are a patient, you may be eligible for free parking or transport to the hospital if you:

• receive income support, or
• are the holder of an NHS tax credit exemption card, or
• are the holder of an HC2 / HC3 form.

To qualify you must have an appointment or be admitted or discharged from hospital on the day of parking.

Take your proof of entitlement card and car park ticket to the cashier’s office by the main entrance of Southampton General Hospital, to obtain free parking.

In addition to the Healthcare travel scheme which enables patients to access cheaper fares to attend appointments at Southampton General Hospital, Red Funnel also have two free car parking spaces adjacent to West Cowes Red Funnel terminal. If you wish to take advantage of this free car parking please phone Red Funnel on 084 4844 9988. These spaces are very popular and get booked up quickly so book early.

Wightlink do not offer any free car parking spaces.

Please be aware that enforcement notices are issued to vehicles not parked in appropriate spaces at the Southampton General and Princess Anne Hospitals.

The enforcement charge is the sum of £70 however this is reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days.

The enforcement is part of our ongoing strategy to improve parking and traffic flow - disruptions to this can compromise the experience of our patients as well as important access for emergency vehicles.

All surplus income generated from the enforcement is used to develop parking facilities and sustainable travel services.
