Ms Nishani Amerasinghe

Ms Amerasinghe has expertise in the investigation, diagnosis and management of patients with glaucoma, both medically and surgically. She has experience in laser procedures for glaucoma, augmented trabeculectomy surgery, aqueous shunt surgery and lens extractions as a glaucoma procedure.

Mr Aby Jacob

Mr Jacob has wide experience managing ophthalmological conditions in two countries, over nearly two decades. He provides glaucoma training, and is experienced in augmented trabeculectomy surgery, deep sclerectomy (non-penetrating trabeculectomy) surgery, drainage implant surgery and combined procedures.

Mr Richard Imonikhe

Mr Imonike is a consultant ophthalmologist, specialising in glaucoma.

Ophthalmic nurse practitioners

Our nurse practitioners help to assess, diagnose and manage glaucoma. This includes giving you advice on your condition, and supporting you to put in eye drops. They play an important role in advocating for you, and provide resources to help you to make informed decisions about your care. Our nurse practitioners are committed to supporting new ideas and ways of working, and improving the way we care for you.

Chloe Knight

Chloe is a nurse injector for the macular degeneration team, and specialises in glaucoma and age related macular degeneration. She has a first class degree in specialist practice: ophthalmic nursing, and has worked in ophthalmic outpatients since 2005.

Kitty Law

Kitty Law, optometrist

Kitty studied optometry at City University in London, graduating in 2005. After gaining experience in high street and domiciliary opticians, she joined the Trust in 2014. Kitty works with the glaucoma team as well as being involved in a range of fields including corneal, paediatrics, research and post-cataract operation follow-up.

Ophthalmic imaging department and photography team

Our ophthalmic imaging department is led by Gerry Lewis, and includes a wide range of imaging services across all aspects of eye care. We have an extensive range of imaging equipment, using the latest technology available.

Imaging services offered for glaucoma management include

  • visual field perimetry - a test to measure all areas of your eyesight, including side or peripheral vision
  • assessment of your optic nerve head or disc - this is the part of the optic nerve that we can see
  • assessment of your anterior chamber (the fluid filled space between your iris and your cornea's innermost surface.
