Bisphosphonates
Bisphosphonates are traditionally a group of drugs used to treat or prevent osteoporosis (bone thinning). However, bisphosphonates have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer returning in the bone in postmenopausal women with high risk (large, grade 3, or lymph node positive) cancers.
They are also sometimes used in the treatment of secondary breast cancer that has spread to the bones.
