Radiotherapy

Our radiotherapy treatment centre is one of the largest in the south of England. We see patients from Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Wiltshire, the Isle of Wight, West Sussex and the Channel Islands.

We also work with staff at the North Hampshire Hospital site in Basingstoke to provide local radiotherapy services for patients in that area. There is a linear accelerator and a CT scanner, allowing us to see some patients who are having treatment to the breast and prostate regions. We are also able to treat some palliative patients. Find out more on the Hampshire Hospitals website.

Radiotherapy is often used to treat cancer, and works by destroying cancer cells in the target area. Normal cells may be damaged by the radiotherapy too, but they are better at repairing themselves than the tumour cells.

We treat many cancers including breast, prostate and lung cancer. We have specialist services to treat cancers affecting the brain, and bone marrow transplants.
