Patient and family support hub
The patient and family support hub is a welcoming, comfortable, and inclusive space within the hospital, located on B level, East Wing (next to the eye unit). The hub is available to patients, families and carers who may benefit from some time away from the busy clinical environment, providing a calm and supportive setting to take a quiet moment.

Our dedicated team of volunteers are on hand to offer a warm welcome, refreshments, and a listening ear to anyone visiting the hub. They can also provide information and practical assistance with a range of enquiries and signpost to other hospital or community resources where needed. We can support with:
- A quiet and friendly space in the hospital for patients, families and carers.
- A dedicated shower facility for unpaid carers or families of end-of-life patients who are staying in the hospital.
- A beautiful garden area which is accessible 24/7.
- Delivery/collection of food and clothing parcels, prescriptions, mobility equipment, clinical items to support with hospital discharges.
- Companions for emotional support and navigation to hospital appointments and around the hospital.
- A wig fitting service for patients experiencing hair loss due to treatment (see leaflet below):
- Citizens' advice service for financial support and advice.
- Sunflower lanyard scheme for patients with hidden disabilities and their carers.
- iPads, books, and activities for inpatient use.
- Signposting to other support services relevant to an individual needs.
