Improvement works are planned for Winchester Road, making it easier and safer for people to travel around the Outdoor Sports Centre. This will include upgraded crossings, improved cycle lanes and resurfacing works.

Works start on Monday 19 October 2026 and will last 9 weeks. The northbound lane will be fully closed for 7 weeks, with traffic travelling southbound only from Memorial Roundabout to Hollybrook Roundabout. Please follow the signed diversion route and adhere to temporary traffic measures if present.

From Monday 7 December 2026 the road will undergo resurfacing and road marking works until Friday 18 December 2026 that will be carried out in sections overnight from 8pm to 6am. The team will need to return in the new year to carry out final coloured surfacing work after the new road surface has had sufficient time to settle.
