
Meet the team
Our team includes doctors, specialist nurses, technicians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, dieticians, health care assistants and administrative support assistants.
We also work closely with other services in the hospital, including psychologists and the chaplaincy.
We're committed to putting the family at the heart of our care. You're encouraged to be part of the team, and be with your child as much as you want during their time with us.
Consultants
Our consultants are all accredited in paediatric intensive care medicine. They all have specialised roles and interests within PICU and in the Children's Hospital.
Dr Iain Macintosh, PICU director
Dr Macintosh is a paediatric consultant with a special interest in children's intensive care, and is the director of our unit.

Dr Wilson is a paediatric consultant and previously led the retrieval service before becoming director of the PICU. He is now clinical division lead.

Dr Stanley is our lead for clinical governance and ECMO.
Dr Phil Hyde
Dr Hyde is our lead for trauma, innovation and quality improvement.
Dr Andrew Baldock
Dr Baldock is our lead for difficult airways and outreach.
As a lead centre for training, we have specialty trainees from paediatrics and anaesthetics on the unit.
The medical team work shifts, with handovers at 8.30am and 9pm.

We have more than 100 nurses in our team, working on a shift system.
