Education and training
Dr Osman graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2008, where she was awarded a scholarship for academic excellence. She also obtained a first-class honours degree in neuroscience and received the Principal's Prize for outstanding academic achievement. Following postgraduate training in Leicestershire and the London deanery, she completed specialist neurology training at the Wessex Neurological Centre before undertaking a post-CCT fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at the University of Southampton.
Experience
Dr Chinar Osman has been a consultant neurologist at the Wessex Neurological Centre, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust since 2019. She specialises in neuromuscular disorders, neuroimmunology and inflammatory neuropathies, with particular expertise in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), Guillain–Barré syndrome, peripheral nerve disorders and other immune-mediated neurological conditions.
She has played a leading role in developing specialist neurological services, establishing the UK's first neurologist-led outpatient plasma exchange service, for which she serves as clinical lead. She also led the development of a regional subcutaneous immunoglobulin service. In addition, she is regional lead for the neurology immunoglobulin service and a member of the Association of British Neurologists (ABN) neuromuscular advisory board.
Dr Osman is committed to medical education and training, contributing to regional neurology registrar teaching, national neurology recruitment and the neurology Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) question writing committee. Her research interests include inflammatory neuropathies, neuroimmunology, plasma exchange, immunoglobulin therapies and long-term outcomes in neuromuscular disease.

Research
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Osman is actively involved in research, education and service development. She has served as principal investigator (PI) and chief investigator (CI) for national and international clinical studies in CIDP, MMN and other immune-mediated neurological disorders. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national and international scientific meetings.
