Dr Griffiths is a consultant allergist and clinical lead for the allergy department.

Training and education

Dr Griffiths' trained as an undergraduate in Medicine (BM) at the University of Southampton with Intercalated Honours BSc in Anatomy and Human Evolution from University of Liverpool

She has speciality Training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital London with additional attachments at Moorfields Eye hospital and St John’s Institute of Dermatology, leading to her CCT in Allergy in 2016.

Experience

Dr Griffiths joined the Trust in 2016 and is the current Clinical Lead for Allergy in Southampton's Department of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology (AACI).

She has considerable expertise in the investigation and management of adults with anaphylaxis and a full range of allergic disorders.

Dr Griffiths' clinical experience includes a specialist interest in drug and vaccine allergy. She has led the Trust's departmental service advising GPs across the wider region of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset and beyond regarding the safe delivery of COVID vaccines to patients with allergies.

Her interests include the assessment of suspected drug allergy, including reactions to radiocontrast media and latex, antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and both general and local anaesthetics. Her assessments can offer advice on a full range of oral, injectable and inhaled medications.

Dr Griffiths also specialises in insect venom allergy and allergic rhinitis (with options to offer subcutaneous immunotherapy to insect venoms, and both subcutaneous and sublingual aeroallergen immunotherapy to house dust mite, grass and tree pollens).

She is interested also in immediate onset food allergy and is recognised by the British Society of Allergy and Immunotherapy as a named consultant lead in the specialist investigation and timely management of suspected food (and drug) allergy for patients working in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and the Police force and in formal food and drug challenges where required in our specialist day case unit.

Dr Griffiths is happy to be referred patients transitioning from paediatric allergy services into adult allergy care.
