Dr Joanna Kitley

Dr Joanna Kitley is a consultant neurologist with a sub-specialty in multiple sclerosis and neuroinflammation.

Experience

Dr Kitley joined the Trust in 2008, and took on the role of consultant neurologist in 2015.  She holds general neurology clinics on a Wednesday morning at Fareham Community Hospital. 

Dr Kitley has a sub-specialist interest in multiple sclerosis and neuroinflammation, particularly antibody-mediated disorders of the central nervous system. She spent three years working in the multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology departments at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where she obtained a DPhil from the University of Oxford for her thesis on neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders. Her particular interests are in anti-MOG and anti-AQP4 antibody disease, seronegative neuromyelitis optica and opticospinal multiple sclerosis.

Dr Kitley holds multiple sclerosis and neuroinflammation specialist clinics at Southampton General Hospital on Thursday afternoons. She also has an interest in inflammatory optic neuritis and runs a joint neuro-ophthalmology clinic monthly in Southampton.
