Mr Ahmed Elbasty

Education and training
Mr Elbasty obtained their medical degree from Cairo University in 2007. He subsequently completed advanced training in vascular and endovascular surgery in the East of England, London, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex deaneries. To further enhance his expertise, He received a travel grant for additional training at the Hamburg Centre in Germany for advanced aortic endovascular intervention.
Experience
Mr Elbasty is a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon currently practicing at Southampton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. With over 15 years of experience, he has successfully performed more than 3500 vascular operations within the NHS, Spire Southampton hospital and Egypt. His practice encompasses the elective management of a full spectrum of vascular diseases, including aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, renal access, and varicose veins.
They have a particular interest in advanced endovascular procedures, focusing on Complex abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, dissection, peripheral arterial disease, and endovenous ablation for varicose veins.
Teaching and academic involvement
Mr Elbasty has served as an e-Tutor for the Chronic Limb Ischaemia and Complications of Diabetes module for three academic years and has played an active role in developing the module in accordance with the UK Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum and currently involved in designing a national endovascular program to improve endovascular training for vascular trainees.
In addition to his teaching role, he has been actively involved in several research initiatives related to the management of aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, venous interventions, and vascular access. His contributions include systematic reviews, clinical studies, and international collaborations aimed at improving patient outcomes in vascular and endovascular surgery.
