Experience

As a consultant neurosurgeon, Mr Durnford treats a wide range of general neurosurgical conditions affecting the central nervous system (brain and spine). This includes both emergency and planned, elective surgery. He has particular interest in managing tumours found within the brain and base of the skull. Mr Durnford has been fellowship trained internationally in minimally invasive techniques of the brain and spine, and utilises both microscopic and endoscopic techniques to help achieve the best outcomes for his patients.

Research

Mr Durnford is a full-time NHS consultant but maintains an active research interest. He has published as both lead and senior author, including in collaboration with national and international colleagues, in approximately 50 peer-reviewed publications to date. He has also presented widely at national and international conferences. Mr Durnford contributes as both a principal and co-investigator in research trials to help better inform national and international clinical practise.
