- University College London Medical School - MBBS (Hons), receiving several prizes including one for greatest proficiency overall out of hundreds of medical students.
Postgraduate
- House surgeon professorial surgical unit, UCL Hospitals
- Basic surgical training - UCL Hospitals surgical rotation and St Bartholomew's Hospital London including Professorial Unit of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, UCLH. Received Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in clinical surgery in general.
- Basic ophthalmology training - West London eye rotation based at the Western Eye Hospital. Postgraduate PhD programme Imperial College London in surgery, ophthalmology and vision science producing widely cited research.
- Higher surgical training - London School of Ophthalmology, London deanery specialist registrar training rotation rotating through London teaching hospitals including senior specialist registrar Moorfields Eye Hospital. Received Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and certificate of completion of training in ophthalmology.
- Fellow in adnexal surgery (oculoplastic, lacrimal, orbital surgery) Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Experience
Mr Zaidi has worked at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust as a consultant since 2017. He qualified and trained in London and is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist with over 14 years of consultant experience. He treats a broad spectrum of eye conditions and the full spectrum of emergency eye conditions.
His first substantive consultant post was at NE London NHS Treatment Centre and Gillingham appointed in cataract surgery, medical retina and oculoplastic surgery. After this he was appointed as a substantive consultant at UHS where he has worked since 2017, when he was also appointed as clinical lead for SW London diabetic eye screening. One of his main responsibilities is as consultant lead for UHS NHS eye emergency, one of UHS's key priority services within ophthalmology. He also performs elective surgical operating lists and clinics at UHS, and supervises a broad range of trainee doctors and medical students.
Since 2024 Mr Zaidi has been national clinical safety officer for a major digital retinal screening platform widely used by the NHS, and honorary clinical senior lecturer in the faculty of medicine at the University of Southampton.

- Fellowes silver medal in pharmacology
- Distinction in surgery, pathology, obstetrics and gynaecology, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics research.

- Several publications in peer-reviewed journals including widely cited research work.
