Mr Ian Nordon

Experience

Mr Nordon was appointed to UHS vascular surgery in 2012, and has been the clinical lead for vascular surgery at the Trust for ten years. During this time he has also held a number of senior national positions including council member of BSET, training programme director for Wessex, SAC member and sitting on the steering group for national recruitment.

Whilst Mr Nordon delivers the full range of vascular surgical interventions; his clinical special interests include complex aortic interventions both using open and complex endovascular techniques.

Research

  • Academic interests covering both basic science and clinical vascular research
  • Published in excess of 30 academic papers and 10 book chapters in the field of vascular surgery
  • Studied the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysms [AAA] and completed a thesis exploring altered protein expression in AAA patients 
  • Led two randomised controlled trials, most recently exploring the optimal treatments for varicose veins 
  • Continuing to publish work in the field of abdominal and thoracic aortic disease
  • Chapter author for both the Oxford textbook and Oxford handbook of Vascular Surgery
