Children's cardiac

Children who come under the care of cardiac services, stay on our purpose-built paediatric ward, E1 – known as ocean ward. The bright and welcoming environment has been carefully designed to put children at ease, and there are plenty of toys, games and books for children to play with.

We have two play leaders who can help take children's minds off their treatment, pain and the uncertainty of operations.

If your child is coming to ocean ward for a test or procedure, find out more about our facilities and the accommodation we can offer to parents and family members.

You can find an accessible guide to E1 ocean ward on the AccessAble website.

The Oxford Southampton paediatric cardiac network

We work closely with Oxford children's hospital to provide cardiac services.

Diagnosis, condition management and outpatient services are provided by both hospitals with surgery and interventional procedures carried out at Southampton.

The partnership cares for children from a wide area and receives referrals from 23 district hospitals stretching as far north as Northamptonshire and as far South as Cornwall and the Channel Islands.
