Children's rheumatology
We provide services and treatments for children and young people who suffer with a variety of conditions, including juvenile arthritis, juvenile-onset lupus and other connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, autoinflammatory conditions, and uveitis.
The children’s rheumatology service is actively recruiting to several national studies, including cohorts of patients on biologic therapies and those with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus, or dermatomyositis, and is currently enrolling patients into multiple clinical trials.
We are committed to delivering the highest standard of care through a multidisciplinary approach, combining clinical expertise, timely diagnosis, and evidence-based treatments. Our team works closely with patients and families to ensure individualised management plans, supported by access to advanced therapies and innovative clinical research. This integration of compassionate care and cutting-edge science enables us to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with rheumatological conditions
By controlling disease activity we aim to maintain function and independence, which minimises disability and supports children to achieve their full potential socially, educationally and psychologically.
Most children are seen in the paediatric outpatients' department. Patients are seen here when they are referred and for reviews of their condition. Our paediatric rheumatologist also holds clinics in Chichester, Salisbury, Winchester, Poole and Worthing.
Children with rheumatic diseases need to be diagnosed promptly and will be referred to a specialist paediatric rheumatology multidisciplinary team who can provide support for the child and their family.
