Initially I was apprehensive about being involved due to my lack of medical knowledge, but quickly found that patient and public involvement is a broad church and requires participation from all sections of society.
I attend regular meetings, which are well attended, and well structured. Dialogue is two way and involves presentations regarding new innovations and developments in the medical world.
Our opinion is sought as to how we think these could help the public. Sometimes these can be very new, but our opinion is accepted in a very open and welcome manner.
I find the forum very educational, and I try to contribute where I feel possible, and in certain aspects my commercial background can bring a fresh perspective.
