After your appointment

After your appointment the consultant/healthcare professional will write a letter to you with information of what happened at your appointment, and what will happen next. A copy of this will be sent to your GP.

This letter will be sent to you digitally on My medical record if you have signed up to this service. It can then also be accessed via the NHS app. Find out more about My medical record and how it can help you manage your healthcare.

The next steps for your care might include being put on to a patient initiated follow up (PIFU) pathway. This means you will not be given a follow up appointment, but you will have an agreed length of time to contact the hospital if you feel you need to be seen again. This will be discussed with you.

Share your experience
